On Friday, Feburary 13th , the New World Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Mr. John Warren, has been invited to perform at Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa for the Annual Conference of the California Mission Studies Association.

This annual weekend event, organized by renowned historian, Dr. Daniel Krieger, will be held in San Luis Obispo this year, and will feature media presentations and lectures based on the latest research offered by the attending mission archaeologists, architectural, art and music historians, Native-American research scholars and others from all over the United States, Europe, Mexico and Latin-America. The concert is planned to begin at about one hour following the opening ceremony for the conference and keynote address by Dr. Craig Russell, Professor of Music at Cal Poly, at 7:00 P.M. in the Mission church.

The public is cordially invited to attend and tickets will be available at the door at $15 general admission each. The program will feature a selection of unusual works from the California Mission archives and other historical music sources, plus a colorful processional pageant featuring the flags and anthems of old Spanish-California performed by the vocal soloists and musicians of the New World Baroque Orchestra, who will be joined for this gala event by members of the Mission San Luis Obispo Choir, directed by Maria Gerber.

A special highlight of the evening will be the performance by talented musician, educator and recording artist, classical guitarist, Jesús Saiz-Huedo in a performance of the beautiful Concerto in D Major for Lute, Strings and Continuo by Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741), plus other works for guitar by early Spanish and Mexican composers.
